Hollow was an autobiographical piece that Sarah constructed in the Spring of 2018. On Christmas Eve, 2017, her family came to her demanding that she forgive her brother for sexually assaulting her. Stating that it never happened, and that they didn't believe her. She wanted to express that feeling of emptiness that she felt that day.
The piece is made from different types of metal, and is hand pierced and soldered together. She used several different techniques to achieve a human form. The brick at the bottom is a dive brick, weighting around 10-15 pounds. She related this brick to when she would teach lifeguards to tread water using the brick. Reminding her of the countless times she had to tread water from her trauma and depression.
